The tiny pond with a lot of wild ducks between Mátrafüred and Mátraháza is a favourite destination of hikers. It offers a full day’s programme together with the adventure park nearby.
The artificial pond that lies the highest in Hungary is situated between Mátrafüred and Mátraháza. The nearly 2-hectare big pond full of bogs, sedges and marsh was dried on the order of Ferenc Varga the president of the council at that time and the current islands and lake were formed and later in 1961 the first mountain camp site in the country was opened. Today the 50 m high lookout tower, the boating lake and the paths offer excellent forms of relaxation. In winter the ice of the frozen pond is a favourite place for skaters. Oxygen Adrenalin Park, established in the former rock cave near Lake Sás offers further programmes.
