There is no sign of the former castle nowadays but while mining rock on the hill the only one remaining and sound volcano top of our country was explored. In real, castle hill is a crater that can only be found on the side of Etna in Sicily these days. It derives from the late volcanic era of the Mátra so it did not fall a victim to the destructive forces of nature. The traits of the past can be studied on the internal wall of the crater. The hill has not only geological but also botanical significance so that is why it became protected in 1975. From its top the view is fantastic to the valley of the Tarna.
