Mátraszentistván Skipark

Mátraszentistván ski run is situated in the High Mátra mountains surrounded by the villages lying around the highest peak. Due to the developments, it became one of the most popular ski resorts in Hungary within a short time.

Alongside the nearly 4 km long system of runs 9 different runs are available for skiers who are served by 6 modern lifts with a capacity of 4600 persons/hour. Everyone will find the most suitable run to their level from the total beginner to the must advanced one. On the ski park runs the best quality snow is ensured by high performance snow guns. Due to careful maintenance works the average ski season ranges around 90 days, which is exemplary in our tiny country.
From the reconstructed ski run system that lies on the grassland of the mountainous region at the height of 675 – 821 m the view is spectacular. In winter the snow covered peaks and ridges of the High Tatra Mountains often can be observed. The restaurant built from Siberian wood offers palatable fair and hot drinks and on its terrace we can enjoy sunshine till our sport fellows do exercises. Sledging is forbidden on the ski runs that is why on a separate part a tubing course was constructed where one can slide in ‘gum doughnuts’ in the bends. Visitors are invited to take part in night skiing on the ski runs that are lit on Fridays and Saturdays. Ski renting facilities and the largest snow covered ski instructing park with professional, well trained instructors awaits those who would like to study skiing every day.
The Ski Park of Mátraszentistván is the best choice either for skiing, learning to ski or relaxation with the family.
The ski park is also worth visiting in summer because of its natural beauties (view, meadow with flowers). The Vörös-kő (Red Rock) lookout tower, Ágasvár or the valley of the picturesque Csörgő brook are among the sights nearby and can be the destinations of trips.
It can be accessed by road from Budapest – Gyöngyös – Mátraháza – Galyatető – Mátraszentlászló – Mátraszentistván or from Pásztó.
