Abasári Kapásház

In Abasár, on a street close to the centre the so-called Kapásház (’Hoe House’) preserves the memories of the past.

The house was built at the end of the 18th century so it is more than 200 years old. Its walls were built from adobe and its roof is thatched. It accommodates artefacts from the first quarter of the 20th century that reflect the way how the families cultivating the fields with hoes and other instruments lived. The house is divided into three parts. In the kitchen there is a chimney with a berm and the necessary equipment for cooking and baking, in the room the two beds are in parallel and the large curved shaped earthenware fireplace with a berm and the folk costumes of Abasár, the pictures of the saints on the walls and a huge container for storage and in the former pantry we can see the instruments of the vineyards in the Middle Ages and in addition to the artefacts of the Abasár wine culture (graft making, wine bottling) the ones excavated in the monastery of the genus Aba in the middle of the 11th century are also on display in glass windows.
